Restoring Quinn

Testimonies

“God brought me to Quinn by invitation from a member.  As soon as I walked into the sanctuary, I understood the power of the church and the meaning of its historic significance. I immediately understood that my forefathers sacrificed all that they could to build this church so that I could, in 2008, 161 years after the church was erected, live my salvation by giving back to Quinn.

So, I’m committed to rebuilding the structure of Quinn Chapel AME, so that the future generation can also live its salvation though my giving….”.

"Where There Is No Vision the People Perish" -Proverbs 29:15

"As a member of Quinn Chapel, I am reminded every time I step into this church of the tremendous sacrifices our founding members made to erect the magnificent edifice we worship in today.  Quinn Chapel is a testament of God’s faithfulness to His people. It is a place where members respond to the work of the Holy Spirit within us and proclaim the Good News, nurture, restore and save souls. The restoration of Quinn will enable our ministries and outreach to continue for generations that follow.  163 years from now, I envision Quinn still standing on the corner of 24th and Wabash. May God continue to bless Quinn Chapel and its congregation for their faithfulness and commitment."

"Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received " -   Peter 4:10

"I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth, nor do I possess an abundance of monetary wealth, but what I am rich in is my love for the Lord.  That same love opens my heart to love others, and to share the many blessings and gifts the Lord so richly provides me.  Our Quinn forefathers decided many years ago to build a church where they could worship a mighty God with their families and Christian friends.  On many occasions, I listened to the stories my Grandmother, aunts and mother would tell of ‘Quinn back then’ and I was in awe.  I represent the third generation of my family to worship and serve at Quinn; my children are the fourth generation. Today, you and I have the opportunity to continue along the path of those who graced Quinn before us by restoring our wonderfully blessed church home.  Quinn Chapel is family; Quinn Chapel is love; I am committed to helping to restore our church building through my restoration pledge and the gift of service to my Quinn family and church home."

"Before coming to Quinn, I went on the internet to research the Church.  I was awed by the rich history of the church; our history.  I was excited to attend Quinn the first time.  I wanted to be in this building where so many of our ancestors and famous people had attended.  My husband being raise in an AME church in St. Louis told me before we left for church that day the service is different it is not like the Baptist Church you grew up in. This church won’t have the music and instruments you’ve become accustom to.  We were both pleasantly surprised.  I have always felt that I was brought to Quinn to help restore it to its original grandeur. What a privilege!  This church represents so much of our history and I am honored to be a part of its restoration. "
